De Roma: a historic landmark in Borgerhout
De Roma first opened in 1928 as a luxurious cinema and remained one of Antwerp’s largest film theatres for many years. It later evolved into a major venue for music and events, welcoming both international artists and local performers. After a long period of closure, a group of volunteers began restoring the building in 2002, after which the venue reopened as a cultural hub.
Today, De Roma is a vibrant meeting place where culture, community involvement and heritage come together. Its location in a busy urban district, however, means that planning your parking in advance is highly advisable.
Parking in the area: what you need to know
The streets surrounding De Roma form a residential neighbourhood with limited parking capacity. Parking is paid from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 and 19.00. During events, demand increases significantly. For this reason, it is sensible to consider alternatives such as Park & Rides, public transport, cycling, or booking a SparkSpot space in advance.
De Roma also lies within Antwerp’s low-emission zone. Not every vehicle is permitted to enter, so checking in advance is essential.
