In addition to the regular underground parking, 300 spaces are reserved for park-and-ride users. These are paid and only accessible for those who meet the conditions. You can apply for a P+R subscription if you live outside a one-kilometre radius of the station, work in Ghent, or study within or on the R40. The application is done online and usually processed within five working days.

The P+R subscription entitles you to a reduced rate. In addition, train passengers with a valid train ticket or subscription can enjoy a discount on their parking fee. The system is simple: first insert your parking ticket into the machine, then scan your travel document or Mobib card. The machine automatically adjusts the rate.

From the P+R to the city centre

From the P+R and the station, you can easily reach the centre of Ghent. Tram line T1, which stops at Sint-Pietersstation, takes you directly to the Kouter and Vogelmarkt. In the surroundings of Gent-Sint-Pieters, the yellow tariff applies for street parking. This means you can park for a maximum of five hours between 9 am and 7 pm. Twice a day you may park for twenty minutes free of charge, provided you enter your number plate at the parking meter.

Those who want to park for a longer period can use the car park under the Sint-Pietersplein. The car park is, however, within Ghent’s low-emission zone, which may be important for some drivers.

The tariffs are clearly defined: there is a day rate from 7 am to 7 pm, a night rate from 7 pm to 7 am and a separate Sunday rate. During major events such as the Gentse Feesten or the Light Festival, the day rate is applied. Subscriptions are also available, but due to works only annual subscriptions are currently offered. For residents in the area, a reduced rate applies, provided they meet the residence requirements.

Low-emission zone Ghent

Gent-Sint-Pieters station lies outside the low-emission zone (LEZ), which means that drivers with older vehicles can still drive up to the station without any problems. However, it is important to know that parts of the city centre do fall under these rules. Those who want to drive further into the centre must therefore check whether their vehicle meets the conditions in order to avoid fines.
